The Aalto Mechatronics research group is a proud member of the Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence on High-Speed Electromechanical Energy Conversion Systems. Mechatronics represents modern machine technology as a multidisciplinary field of science, including mechanical engineering with electronics and computer control in the design and manufacturing of industrial products. At Aalto, the main research interests in mechatronics include rotor dynamics, autonomous mobility, digital twins, fluid power, powertrains and tribology.

Strong positioning in education consulting business is based on ”School of Future” concept launch and implementation of actual schools based on this revolutionary approach to combine pedagogy, architectural design with modern technology. 3D-Technology has been part of the technology offering and bringing multiuser browser based virtual 3D-learning and training environment called Finpeda Virtual Space (FVS) for phenomenon, inquiry and project learning.
Metaverse based training solution is targeting to add productivity and provide real-life environment with more realistic visualization and use of new devices, even haptic sensors to stimulate senses.
Research effort is focused to improve training session realism and adaptation. To reach the goal there is three main targets which all gives competitive advantages

VTT is researching and applying key technology enablers needed for transforming the data captured from the operational environment into a persistent digital twin representation. VTT is developing solutions for XR assisted telecollaboration enabling creation of metaverse environment and multiuser collaboration across physical boundaries. These technological enablers will be developed further in Necoverse pilot cases with the consortium partners.
