Necoverse project is progressing with the first metaverse test experiments held this week at the Futuristic Interactive Technologies Competence Center at the School of ICT of Turku University of Applied Sciences.
Nearly 40 engineering students jumped into the Magical Spaces interactive multiuser metaverse pilot prototype for experiencing the atmosphere and interactive functionalities of aperitif bar where robotic arms prepared and served the ordered drinks and students were able to collaborate with each other, change the background, color of furniture and lighting levels. Students also filled the Hollinki research questionnaire after the experiment for Marjo Kekkonen and Katri Halkonen to proceed with the research on the quality of virtual spaces.
Special thanks to our researchers Kimmo Tarkkanen and Werner Ravyse for arranging the students and conducting the research, and our experienced engineers Polina Petrona and Jaro Virta and student assistant Tuomas Järvenkylä for guiding the test students to enter to metaverse environment.
But there is more to come: Next metaverse test experiments for Robotics Training will be conducted later in October and November, so stay tuned.
